General information
Nokblod holds training courses and workshops on blood preparedness and related topics for both civilian and military actors. We offer consultation and education in practical procedures and routines for blood banks and healthcare facilities. This may include blood contingency and preparedness planning, implementation of whole blood programs, and walking blood bank training.
In collaboration with the University in Bergen, Nokblod has made instruction videos which are attached below.

Content
Covers the implementation of a whole blood program for treatment of patients with severe bleeding in times of peace and war. Including basic theory and practical training in emergency collection and emergency transfusion of whole blood from walking blood banks. The course has two parts, one theoretical part and one practical part, and has a duration of 2 days. The course gives the participants an introduction to the following:
Lessons learned from the history of and the rationale for the use of whole blood in treatment of severely bleeding patients
Use of blood transfusion for patients with severe bleeding
Monitoring bleeding patients
Components in blood, their function during bleeding and the use of whole blood
Pathophysiology of hemorrhagic shock
Remote Damage Control Resuscitation (RDCR) principles
Efficacy and safety of whole blood transfusion with examples from in-hospital and prehospital use of whole blood
The use of Walking Blood Banks in a civilian and military setting
Practical aspects of implementation of an in-hospital and prehospital Whole Blood Program for routine use
Prehospital storage and transport of blood
Emergency collection of whole blood as a preparedness measure
How to set up a walking blood bank
Establish and maintain an emergency donor pool
Training of personnel
Documentation, hemovigalence and regulatory aspects
Demonstration and practical procedures:
Rapid testing of blood type (ABO and RhD testing)
Emergency collection of whole blood
Autologous reinfusion of whole blood for training purposes

Covers the implementation of a whole blood program, with focus on the blood services. The workshop has two parts, one theoretical part and one practical part, and has a duration of 2 days. The workshop includes:
