Prof. Hiroshi Egusa, a board-certified prosthodontist and the director of Center for Advanced Stem Cell and Regenerative Research in Tohoku University, earned his DDS (1998) and PhD (2002) from Hiroshima University, completed postdoctoral research at UCLA (2002–2004), and pioneered stem cell research at Osaka University, collaborating with Nobel Laureate Shinya Yamanaka to develop induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells from gingival tissues. In 2014, he became a full professor at Tohoku University, where he established the Division of Molecular and Regenerative Prosthodontics.
Prof. Egusa has received numerous accolades, including the IADR Distinguished Scientist Award, and has been listed among the world’s top 2% scientists since 2021. He is a board-certified specialist in regenerative medicine and infection control, an associate member of the Science Council of Japan, and the Vice-President of the Japanese Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research. His research focuses on the molecular and regenerative aspects of prosthodontics, which can be
